Master and Doctoral Programs

These programs are designed for those students who have completed their undergraduate degree at an accredited university in China and now wish to go to the United States to pursue graduate studies in their chosen fields.  This represents the minimum requirements and may vary widely from school to school and from degree program to degree program.  In addition to English Proficiency students may have to submit test scores for the GRE, GMAT, etc.  Academic credit earned in China must be evaluated by an independent third party academic credential evaluation firm who will determine the applicability of the course work to the US educational system.

Admission to these programs will require English proficiency as measured by IELTS or TOEFL scores.  Generally a minimal IELTS score of 6.5 or an Internet-based TOEFL score of 89-90 will be required for admission to a master’s program and 7.5 on the IELTS or 100 on the Internet-based TOEFL for doctoral studies; however, it should be noted that English requirements vary greatly among the various schools.  Scores below this will require that the student enroll in an English as a Second Language program before beginning academic work.  CAEC will work closely with the student in determining the best way to proceed if the required English proficiency is not met.

The annual – two semesters – cost for tuition, and room and board can vary between 25,000 USD and 50,000 USD.  Total cost for the entire program will depend on how long the student will need to study in order to complete the master or doctoral degree program of their choice.  It should be noted that graduate tuition and fees vary widely in the United States.  In addition, international students will be charged out-of-state tuition when attending state universities.  Consequently the cost at a state university may be as high, if not higher, than tuition charged by some private universities.  In addition private universities are more apt to grant scholarships and grants than state universities.  CAEC has successfully placed students in a wide variety of schools depending on student needs and requirements.  In addition, CAEC works very closely with a variety of schools in order to obtain scholarships and grants for qualified students.  Generally speaking financial aid is not available for master’s studies.  In the case of doctoral studies most programs require the student to pay for the first year of studies.  After that the student is provided with financial aid, and scholarships and grants to complete the doctoral work.  Based on student requirements CAEC will be able to place the student in a wide variety of schools that offer graduate degrees – including Chaminade University, University of West Virginia, Shenandoah University, Lakeland College, Case Western Reserve University, etc.  As in all cases, CAEC will assist the student in getting admitted to the school of their choice provided that they meet the schools’ minimal requirements.
